About Bodhi Stree -

‘Bodhi Stree’ is a term inspired by the concept of the Bodhi Tree (also known as the Tree of Awakening) which was a large and ancient sacred fig tree (Ficus religiosa) located in Bodh Gaya, Bihar, India. Siddhartha Gautama, the spiritual teacher who became known as the Buddha, is said to have attained enlightenment or ‘Bodhi’ under it. Stree is the Sanskrit word for woman. The purpose of the programme is to help women discover their ‘strength inside out’

Vision: To leverage woman power for a better tomorrow.

Mission: To power and sustain a forum for women (anyone who identifies as a woman) to network, collaborate, inspire & get inspired to realize the best (Shakti) in them in all facets of life.

Brief Description -

The session ‘Where the Buck Stops – WOMEN, WORK & THE STATE’ addressed the crucial questions surrounding women’s economic participation and the State’s influence in enabling or challenging it. The conversation centered on understanding where the ultimate responsibility lies for women at work, exploring how policy, gender, and leadership intersect.

Ms. Neera Saggi, a powerhouse leader who has broken glass ceilings in both governance and corporate India, led this insightful discussion. Drawing from her unique experience as a former IAS officer, the first woman President of the Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 177 years, and her work championing gender parity through initiatives like Fempower, Ms. Saggi offered a deep, 360° understanding of these dynamics. Her insights highlighted a story of vision, resilience, and systems-level impact in shaping inclusive futures for women in the workplace.
